A central atom’s coordination describes its immediate neighbours. It does not establish whether the full substance consists of separate molecules, chains, sheets or a three-dimensional network. Inspect both the local unit and the connections between units.
A peroxo group contains an oxygen–oxygen bond. In usual oxidation-state bookkeeping, each oxygen in a peroxide is assigned −1 rather than the −2 commonly used for oxygen in oxides. Connectivity matters when identifying the group.
A displayed molecular unit should not automatically be taken as the structure in every phase. Some substances associate, dissociate or form extended structures when conditions change. Use the compound label and bonding context when comparing models.

A network solid has bonding extending through a connected structure. A molecular solid consists of distinct molecules held together by intermolecular interactions. A small model may show only a representative portion of an extended network.
Identify the central atoms, their bonded neighbours, bridging atoms and any charges. Then rotate the model to examine angles, rings and connections that may be hidden in a flat drawing.
