A plausible formula or Lewis drawing does not by itself establish that a species is stable or isolable. Use the cases in this lab to compare electron count, atomic size, bonding and the conditions under which a species can exist.
Count valence electrons and distinguish a neutral molecule from a related ion. Removing or adding an electron changes the electronic structure, so conclusions about one charge state do not automatically apply to another.
A central atom must accommodate its surrounding atoms with suitable bonding interactions. Steric crowding, atom size and orbital overlap can favour one arrangement over another, even when simple electron bookkeeping looks similar.
A transient gas-phase species, a solvated ion and an isolable solid are different claims. Temperature, pressure, solvent and reaction partners can change stability. Treat the lab’s comparisons as guided chemical models rather than universal statements independent of conditions.

No. A Lewis structure checks an electron arrangement, but energetic stability, reaction pathways and experimental conditions also determine whether a species can be observed or isolated.
Not in every sense. Thermodynamic stability concerns relative energies under specified conditions; reaction speed also depends on activation barriers. A species may persist because its decomposition is slow.
